David Fernquist joined LPL Financial as a Registered Principal and Branch Manager in 1998. He partnered with Larry Rosenberg and Mark Lebovitz to form Northcoast Wealth Management, with the intention of providing clients with a deep level of comprehensive planning expertise.
David’s 30+ years of experience includes roles with national financial institutions, working with high-net-worth clients as well as institutional clients, endowments and foundations. Due to his knowledge of the complex interrelations of estate, retirement and tax planning, in the context of investment and risk management, he has taught various courses at the School of Business Administration at Oakland University. He is also a two-time recipient of the President’s Call to Service Award, awarded by both President Bush and President Obama for his lifetime contribution of well over 4000 hours of volunteer service in various community organizations. David lives in West Bloomfield with his wife. He is a private pilot and avid outdoorsman.
One of the founders of Northcoast Wealth Management, Larry Rosenberg came to LPL Financial in 2001. His area of expertise is investment and goal-based financial planning for individuals and corporations, to which he brings a tax-conscious perspective informed by his experience as a Certified Public Accountant.
Larry also has 15 years’ management experience with two Fortune 100 companies, during which time he was also a speaker and instructor locally and nationally. He is a licensed insurance agent, a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Residing in Farmington Hills with his wife, Larry enjoys running and biking in his spare time.
Mark Lebovitz came to LPL Financial in 2015, and became a Partner at Northcoast Wealth Management, contributing the analytical component of the team’s complementary financial specialties.
Mark has experience managing wealth for both individuals and institutions. During his time managing mutual funds and pension accounts, he was approached for his perspective on finance and economics by publications including The Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Reuters, Bloomberg News, Smart Money Magazine, Investor’s Business Daily and MSN Money. He then made the transition from institutional services to helping individual clients make important financial decisions with confidence.
With an Honors BA from Michigan State University and an MBA from Oakland University, Mark is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Detroit. Mark lives in Novi, Michigan with his wife and daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family and watching or playing almost any sport.
Jay joined Northcoast Wealth Management in 2020 after more than 20 years of practicing law.
Prior to joining LPL, Jay was a partner in a law firm and owned a variety of small businesses. He has a diverse background, having tried lawsuits, clerked at the Michigan Court of Appeals, and co-hosted a successful podcast. His law experience contributes to Northcoast’s well-rounded service offering.
Jay earned an Honors BA from Michigan State University and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. He lives in Lake Orion, Michigan with his wife and three kids. He enjoys coaching youth soccer and fitness training.
Cara joined Northcoast Wealth Management in 2021 with over 20 years of financial services experience.
As an advisor, Cara believes that really knowing her clients, and what they hope to achieve with her help, is the best way to help them pursue their financial goals. She also frequently offers both virtual and in-person educational events for her clients and others on a variety of financial topics. Prior to spending the past 12 years as an independent advisor, Cara spent a decade in banking in a variety of capacities including mortgages, construction lending, and insurance. She is also an active board member, and Treasurer, of the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce where she is devoted to supporting local businesses and the community.
Cara earned a BA in Marketing from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. She also runs a private foundation, in memory of her sister, that supports centers helping people recover from their eating disorders. Cara lives in Waterford, MI with her husband and son. She enjoys skiing, golfing, boating, and most activities outdoors.
Joining LPL Financial in 2005, Bill Monteith has been a Wealth Advisor since 2004.
Prior to LPL Financial, Bill also worked as a Commercial Insurance Agent for over 20 years. His expertise in this field is an important component of Northcoast’s well-rounded service offering.
In addition to insurance and financial services experience, Bill has served on the Board of Directors and is a former President of the Dearborn Country Club. Residing in Dearborn with his wife and son, he still frequents the club and enjoys golfing.
Erin Goodhand has been a Client Service Assistant with LPL Financial since 2016. While she is the newest member to the Northcoast team, she is dedicated to getting the job done and keeping the client informed.
Erin has an extensive background in strategic management. With her past experience with project, operations, and sales management, she has brought value to our team by assisting in the development of our practice and branch. Specifically, she has spearheaded our initiative to become paperless and has streamlined branch procedures and common practices.
Personally, Erin values self-growth and is driven to be the best at whatever she’s pursuing. Quite often you’ll see Erin at her desk after hours, working to feel satisfied about her day. She is also interested in real estate, currently owning one rental property and on the hunt for a cottage near Higgins Lake. She comes from a close-knit Irish family, with a 65-year-old tradition of getting together every Friday evening to catch up. While she doesn’t have children of her own, she enjoys spending time with her niece and nephew, Shawn and Andrew, as well as her two dogs, Buddy and Mylo.
Jessica Strong brings 15 years of client service experience to the Northcoast Wealth Management team. Having multi-industry knowledge has made it easy for her to excel.
Working with a team is where Jessica shines. She is known for her upbeat and positive demeanor, she performs consistently well under pressure, and she has an ability to communicate fluently with everyone she works with. Her experience in client account management is an important asset for the growth and development of the branch.
Together with her husband Sean, outside of the office Jessica keeps busy with her four children. Having four children involved in sports and after-school activities keeps her on the move. She enjoys spending her time with her family at the beach and their cottage up north, as well as going to concerts with her husband whenever they find time.
Ida Houghton joined LPL Financial as a Client Service Assistant in February of 2016. She has over 10 years of experience in customer service.
Ida quickly became an invaluable member of the Northcoast Wealth Management team due to her ability to learn quickly. Her multi-tasking abilities and self motivation are greatly valued at the firm. While working independently is easy for her to do, she can quickly put on her teammate hat and jump on board with group projects.
Outside of the office Ida has been married for 10 years to her husband David, and they have a son who carries on the name as David the fourth. They are avid football fans who love bowling and spending time with family.
